Human Rights
  1. Support and respect the internationally recognized declarations on the protection of human rights

Evergreen Marine takes human rights very seriously and adheres to the local labor and gender equality in employment laws of our global operating sites. We also support the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). Evergreen Marine has set out the human rights policy, and a human rights risk assessment and management mechanism as per the aforementioned norms and principles of international human rights. Regular internal assessments are conducted every year and follow-up prevention plans based on the assessment results will be drawn up if necessary.

  1. Ensure that no human rights are violated

Evergreen Marine aims at "zero violation" in terms of anti-discrimination, anti-sexual harassment, anti-bullying, prohibition of forced labor, and prohibition of child labor. We protect employees' freedom of association and implement the "whistleblower" system as planned.

  1. Adhere to the freedom of assembly and explicitly recognize the right to collective bargaining

Evergreen Marine guarantees freedom of speech, assembly, and association, is committed to building a harmonious workplace environment for labor and management, provides smooth and diverse communication channels and grievance mechanisms while organizing labor representative elections, holding regular labor-management meetings, and conducting two-way communication through mechanisms, such as negotiation and cooperation and seminars, as per the implementation methods of labor-management conference

  1. Eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labor

Evergreen Marine respects human rights in the workplace and eliminates any form of forced labor.

  1. Explicitly prohibit child labor

Evergreen Marine respects human rights in the workplace, strictly prohibits child labor, and inspects the original copies of new employees' identity documents and academic certificates to prevent child labor.

  1. Eliminate employment- and occupation-related discrimination

Evergreen Marine ensures equal opportunities, diversity, and tolerance, abides by the Employment Service Act and the Act of Gender Equality in Employment, eliminates discrimination related to employment, treats all employees equally and employs talents based on their strengths, and does not engage in differential treatment or any form of discrimination due to gender, sexual orientation, race, age, marriage status, religion, appearance, or physical or psychological disabilities, provides equal opportunities, and prohibits any tangible or intangible sexual harassment, bullying, and discrimination in the workplace.

  1. Support preventive actions against environmental challenges

"Continuously promoting green transportation supply chains and managing environmental risks" is one of Evergreen Marine's environmental protection strategies, and we have introduced climate change risk management and control mechanisms to reduce environmental risks and seize opportunities therefrom. Evergreen Marine requires strict compliance with current international and regional environmental protection laws or regulations for all operations, and is committed to pollution prevention, energy conservation, and carbon reduction to protect our planet.   1. Facilitate the development and promotion of eco-friendly technologies

In addition to the pursuit of optimal loading and improvement to punctuality in shipping and market competitiveness, Evergreen Marine adopts the latest eco-friendly equipment in line with the Company's environmental protection policy. The newly built B-type and F-type ships have improved energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The newly delivered F-type ships are the first large container ships to use the latest selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to achieve a significant reduction in NOx emissions.

  1. Resolutely object to any form of corruption, including extortion and bribery.

Evergreen Marine is committed to complying with maritime conventions, competition laws, anti-bribery laws, economic sanctions laws, and personal privacy protection laws and regulations, and has set out relevant policies or guidelines for different areas of compliance. We have published the ethical compliance policy and commitments on the Company's sustainability website and raised employees' awareness of compliance through education and training.
